The basketball philosophy at Gerlev emphasizes the joy of playing ball, training hard, and learning quickly.

You will be challenged at your own skill level in ten weekly lessons within a variety of genres: Classic indoor 5-5, street basket, beach basket, and the new Olympic discipline, FIBA 33.

Here, basketball is for everyone, and to begin with the training will focus on your individual skills and physique, and after this we will focus more on team playing: Defense, attack, fast break, team building and team psychology.

Built-in instructor training
The program is structured in a way that also includes instructor training. You can take the official DGI courses 1 and 2 in basketball during your stay.

You will get to test your coaching skills, both with your teammates and with a bunch of excited public school pupils during your week of teaching practice towards the end of the program.

Street basket in Barcelona
The joy of playing and coaching ensures a highly motivated team, which travels to Barcelona in the fall to play games against Spanish teams, practice street basket, experience one of Europe’s best basketball teams, and enjoy the beaches and culture of Barcelona.

At Gerlev, you will get to meet some of Denmark’s best coaches, as Geof Kotila, Craig Pedersen, Nicolai Iversen, and Pete Hoffman – among others – do guest classes here.
