Exceed your Limits

Natural Movement is a brand new Major at Gerlev Sports Academy, where, in line with a general trend in movement culture, look back to our roots. Natural Movement is all about exploring, cultivating and optimizing our natural human way of moving around. Muscles and movements that tend to go neglected in modern society and today’s fitness culture.

The approach is playful and movement-oriented. We explore different methods to optimize the entire body and brain. Through play, intense training and varying disciplines we challenge, loosen up and develop the individual body’s abilities. It’s about strength, coordination and body control.

Background and Methodology

Ewan Le Corre, founder of the system MovNat (Natural Movement Fitness, 2008), identifies three domains within the fundamental, universal human movement elements: manipulative (lifting, carrying, throwing, catching); Locomotive (walking, running, balance, jump, crawl, climb, swim); and combative (hitting, kicking, breaking). These domains will form the basis for the daily lessons.

The ability to adjust

Besides working with movement, the environment and our ability to adjust to different surface, temperature, humidity, altitude, etc. we be a factor in the course. We will explore different environment and raise awareness and consciousness about how best to move when this changes.
