JO KYRRE SKOGSTAD
Jo Kyrre loves his job. His motivation comes from the ability to move the standpoint of his students, to push them in new directions, instill reflection and help them become better versions of themselves through sports.
With Jo Kyrre you will experience a highly ambitious teacher – both in terms of his own teaching and on behalf of his students. To set goals and work in a focused way over time in order to achieve both bodily and mental skills is a fundamental component of Jo Kyrre’s teaching method.
He focuses strongly on the social aspect of sports. It is in the meeting between people that we get to cooperate with and challenge each other, and it is here edges are polished and personalities are developed.
Whether it is beachvolley, outdoor subjects or Free Skiing, the joy of being able to use nature is an important driving force for Jo Kyrre. Nature is a teammate (and sometimes an opponent!) in the challenges that the students meet and have to learn how to deal with.
Through the last decade and a half, Jo Kyrre has helped shape the development of outdoor life at Gerlev. In the past ten years he has been the main volleyball teacher, and over the last five years, he has been the chief responsible for developing and establishing beachvolley as a main subject at Gerlev.
Jo Kyrre has a master’s degree in sports, outdoor life and media science, and he is also a trained Key Point Photography photographer. He is a certified skiing and Telemark instructor from DNS Snowsports Norway (Den Norske Skiskole) and a skiing instructor B from the Norwegian Confederation of Sports.
At Gerlev we have gathered some of the country’s best and most engaged teachers.
