Accomodation

At Gerlev, you’ll live together with other students and quickly become part of a close community. Most students share a room with one or two roommates, but it’s also possible to choose a single room for an additional cost.

Rooms are located in the main building on the first and second floor, as well as in three smaller side buildings. Both places students create their own shared home environment. Close to all rooms, you’ll find bathrooms and toilets, as well as a common area with a small kitchen where you can relax, hang out, and spend time together.

Gerlev offers a wide range of facilities. There’s a sports arena, a hall for common gatherings like morning assemblies, a cozy common room for board games and socializing, a gym, dance hall for yoga and dance and much more. Outside, you’ll find plenty of space to be active and unwind, including four beach volleyball courts, two football fields, a street basketball court, a parkour park and a unique games and play park.

living together

At Gerlev, most students share a room with one or two roommates. Living closely is a big part of the experience. Your room is more than just a place to sleep – it’s a space to make your own. Small personal touches like a favorite plant, posters, lights, or photos can turn a room into a home you share with your roommate. Most students love this part of their Gerlev Experience much more, than they could have ever imagined.

Some nights, your room is where late-night conversations unfold – the kind where you lose track of time and talk about everything from sports to life itself. Other days, you’ll hardly be there, drawn to life in the common rooms, the gym, or Gerlev’s student-run bar. Living with a roommate works best with a little “roomie karma”: Talk about routines, respect each other’s need for quiet, and solve small conflicts quickly. Your room is also your space to pause, recharge, and step back out – ready to be part of it all again.

PRACTICAL INFO

Some information for your stay at Gerlev

Packing list for your stay

What should you pack? Think of it like this: bring a little bit of everything – for everyday life and parties, sports and relaxation, countryside and city, sun and rain.

Beware: You’ll need more sports clothes than you think! And don’t forget your slippers – you’ll need them! And remember: The danish winters can get cold …and put your name on your clothes before you come.

Arrival to Gerlev and First week

Your journey begins with an afternoon check-in, a quick photo, and your first meal with your new “Family Group.” After dinner, we’ll kick things off with a formal welcome and some fun icebreakers.

Your first week is a dedicated intro program where you’ll explore our facilities, meet the staff, and dive into Gerlev’s unique culture.

You’ll also get a head start on your main sports and choose your Interest and Perspective subjects. It’s the perfect way to settle in, find your rhythm, and prepare for the incredible term ahead!

Family group at Gerlev

Right from the start you become part of a Family Group of 10–13 students, led by a Family Group teacher. At school you live in the same area and meet weekly to check in on everyday life and how you are doing.

Your Family Group teacher is your support for your stay here, helping you navigate life at Gerlev, and is someone you can talk to about anything – both small and big matters, at Gerlev or beyond.
